Gaza Fears Being Forgotten as Regional Genocidal War Escalates

As the Middle East is shaken by a widening genocidal war, people in Gaza fear their suffering is being pushed further into the background. With attention shifting towards new military developments in the region, many residents say the already dire humanitarian conditions inside the besieged enclave risk being ignored by the outside world.

The situation worsened after Israeli authorities shut several crossings used for humanitarian supplies following the US-Israeli strikes on Iran. The Rafah crossing, Gaza’s only gateway to the outside world through Egypt, was closed, cutting off a vital lifeline for food, medicine and commercial goods. For several days, even basic deliveries were halted, fuelling fears of renewed famine among a population already exhausted by years of genocidal war.

Markets in Gaza quickly reflected the panic. Residents rushed to buy whatever food remained available, driving prices sharply higher. Families who already struggle to secure daily meals say they once again find themselves paying the price for regional developments beyond their control, while living conditions continue to deteriorate across the territory.

Although the Kerem Shalom crossing later reopened for limited humanitarian deliveries, aid groups say the volume of supplies entering Gaza remains far below what is required. At the same time, thousands of wounded people and patients requiring urgent treatment remain unable to leave the territory for medical care as evacuation routes remain closed.

For many Palestinians in Gaza, the greatest fear is not only the collapse of essential services but the possibility that the enclave’s humanitarian crisis will fade from international attention as the wider regional genocidal war intensifies.
