Secretary-General of the Arab League stated that settling the Palestinian cause has been even more elusive than ever before.
Ahmed Aboul Gheit confirmed in the meeting of the Security Council that the “Two-State Solution” has been marginalized by the principal arbiter in the peace process, who encourages Israel’s government to intensify its settlement activity and to plan for more risky projects such as the annexation of the occupied territories.
“The international society, represented in the Council, has been still considering the “Two-State Solution” as the only form acceptable to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Hence, all parties with an interest in peace in the Middle East must make lots of efforts in the coming days to assure this solution with its international refrences,” Aboul Gheir commented.
He added, “the Arab region has witnessed several developments that touched the situation and stability since June 2019; some of the developments were positive in they helped in unlocking some of the crises presented in our collective agenda.”
Aboul Gheit finally mentioned that the Arab region is in a serious, precise time in which it suffers from economic and social situations resulted from the coronavirus pandemic, including a decrease in the energy prices which is an essential component of many countries’ exports in the region.
