The Council of Awqaf warned of the ongoing Israeli attacks against Al-Aqsa mosque, especially the Israeli targeting of the reconstruction projects in Al-Aqsa mosque and the prevention of completing the Hashemite projects.

“Israeli police works on suspending all the works and activities that aim to reconstruct the mosque, prevent rehabilitating important sites inside the mosque, and deactivate the entry of the simplest tools required for maintenance,” the council pointed out

The Directorate for construction has become unable to reconstruct or reform any defects in the facilities of the mosque as well as its employees are being imposed to chase, threat, deport and arrest.

The Islamic Waqf mentioned that Israel suspended all the works inside Al-Aqsa mosque on Saturday, prevented the workers from achieving their work, and threatened to arrest them in case they kept working.

“Islamic Waqf and the affairs of Al-Aqsa mosque are the responsible of all the affairs related to the mosque and its surroundings, including the administration and reconstruction of the mosque,” the council confirmed.

It emphasized that the Islamic Waqf insists on following up with the reconstruction and reforming of all the facilities of the mosque despite the restrictions Israel put, appreciating the keenness of the Palestinians on the mosque and its safety.

The council finally stated that reconstructing the mosque and protecting it are prerogative of the Islamic Waqf and the Affairs of Al-Aqsa mosque.
