A stand to support prisoners in their battle against COVID-19

The national and Islamic forces on Sunday organized a solidarity stand at Al-Manara roundabout in the center of Ramallah to support the prisoners in the Israeli prisons in light of the high number of infected with Coronavirus.

The families of the prisoners and the ex-prisoners participated in the stand and raised the slogans "Stop the slow death policy" and "Save the lives of the prisoners who are victims of medical neglect."

The participants called the International Committee of the Red Cross and international human rights institutions to urgently intervene and to enter doctors into prisons to treat sick and coronavirus infected prisoners, in light of the infection of 200 prisoners, including three critical cases.

The Coordinator of the National Forces in Ramallah, Issam Bakr, said that the prisoners are victims of deliberate medical negligence and the prisons administration uses its repressive measures against them in serious violation of all international laws and norms.

The ex-prisoner, Mohammad al-Taj, called in a speech for a Palestinian massive public anger, because the people are the only ones capable of curbing the occupation, but not begging for the international community.

Al-Taj stressed that the prisoners are in a serious danger, calling on the Red Cross to immediately intervene and force Israel to treat the prisoners.

He said, "Either work immediately and seriously, or wait for new funerals."

The Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Committee announced on Saturday that the number of the infected prisoners with Coronavirus in the Israeli jails has increased.

In addition, the Committee stated in a statement issued by it that 200 prisoners in the Israeli prisons have been infected with the Coronavirus since the beginning of this year, which brings the total number of infections to about 340, indicating that the infected were mostly concentrated in Raymond" and Negev prisons.
