Palestine receives 10,000 doses of Russian Sputnik vaccine

Mai al-Kaila, Health Minister of Palestine, announced that Palestinian Ministry of Health will receive 10,000 doses of the Russian Sputnik vaccine against the coronavirus today.

"The doses are enough for 5,000 citizens," al-Kaila stated, noting that she bought 2 million doses, which are enough for a million Palestinians, but they did not arrive yet. Also, some friendly states and other institutions supporting the Palestinian people contributed to the donations for the Palestinians.

She pointed out that the Sputnik vaccines arriving today will be processed, prioritized and given as needed.

"A part of the vaccines will arrive between 14-20 of February," al-Kaila stated, mentioning that the vaccination against the coronavirus will be processed in 45 centers.

She confirmed that doctors, elderly people, and chronic patients have the high priority to have the vaccine, according to the World Health Organization.

"Process of vaccination started in Hugo Chávez hospital and will continue in the rest of the governates, including the private sections and the staffs working in the sections of intensive care specialized for COVID19.

A load of the Russian vaccine against the coronavirus arrived Ben Gurion Airport today morning, according to Hebrew sources.

 TV7 Israel news mentioned that the load carries 10,000 doses of Sputnik vaccine that Russia donated for the Palestinian Authority.

Palestinian Authority will receive the vaccine in coordination with the the Israeli government in the Occupied Palestinian territories.
