The Ministry of Information said that it monitored 39 violations by the Israeli forces against Palestinian journalists and media institutions during the month of January 2021, calling for the implementation of the UN Security Council resolution on the protection of journalists and international humanitarian law.
In its monthly report, a copy of which obtained by Safa, the ministry stated that the Israeli occupation army had targeted 13 journalists, more than 6 press crews, 10 media pages, and one printing press.
The Israeli violations included shooting live bullets, beatings, throwing stun grenades and gas canisters, prevention of coverage, arresting and torturing inside the prisons, breaking into a printing press, breaking equipment, and blocking social media.
The Ministry stressed the seriousness of the Israeli violations aimed at preventing journalists from covering the violations of the occupation, calling for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution (2222) on the protection of journalists and international humanitarian law, and to ensure that the Israeli occupation forces and settlers are held accountable without impunity.
