Haniyeh: Hamas vows firm support for Jerusalemites against Israeli violations

Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas said that it is deeply concerned about the Israeli violations in Jerusalem that caused fierce confrontations between Israeli occupation forces and Palestinians in Jerusalem.

Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh said in a statement, a copy of which obtained by Safa, that "the ongoing situation in Jerusalem emphasizes that the holy city is an Arab and Islamic sacred site. The Palestinian residents of Jerusalem will not succumb to the Israeli occupation’s threats or its fascist policies."

"Throughout history, Jerusalem has been the compass of the Palestinian freedom struggle against the Israeli occupation. It has also been the core issue for the Palestinian people and for the Arab and Islamic Ummah," Haniyeh added.

Meanwhile, the movement stressed that the Palestinians will win the battle of defending Jerusalem, which is an integral part of the Palestinian land.

"Hamas movement expresses its solidarity with and support for the Palestinian defenders and freedom fighters who stand steadfast in the face of the Israeli occupation’s violations in the holy city," the official underlined.

"We will not leave the Palestinian people alone in the battle against the Israeli occupation and will continue to defend Al Aqsa and the Islamic identity of Jerusalem."

"On the other hand, we call on the Palestinian people in Jerusalem to stand steadfast and face off the Israeli attempts to Judaise the holy city of Jerusalem at any price," the statement concluded.
