Shtayyeh calls on Europe to pressure Israel to allow Palestinian elections in Jerusalem

Mohammed Shtayyeh, Prime Minister of Palestine, called on Europe to keep its efforts to force Israel to allow conducting the elections in Jerusalem.

"The election was delayed, not canceled," Shtayyeh said in his meeting with Bursdorff, the representative of the EU.

Shtayyeh appreciated the supportive position of the European Union to conduct the elections in all the Palestinian territories, including Jerusalem, and to strengthen the principles of justice, peace, and democracy.

He discussed with Burgsdorff the efforts made to establish a desalination plant in the Gaza strip, worth $600 million; 150 million Euro from the European Union, and the Qatari-European project of delivering Gas to the power station to reduce the electricity crisis in Gaza.
