EU warns of the implications of displacing Jerusalemite citizens

European Union warned of the implications of Israel's procedures represented by occupying lands, destroying homes, and displacing Palestinian citizens from Jerusalem.

The spokesperson of the EU in Brussel said in a statement that the Israeli authorities declared its intentions to build 450 new settlement units in Har Homa as all these plans aim at separating Jerusalem from Bethlehem and decline the possible future negotiations of the two-state solution.

European Union renewed its position on all the settlements built over the occupied Palestinian lands as illegal according to the international law and refused to recognize any changes that occurred on the borders before 1967, including Jerusalem, except the lands, agreed between the two parties. It also renewed its call on the Israeli government to stop building settlements and to cancel the last decisions as fast as possible.

"The increase in evictions and demolitions in the occupied Palestinian territories and the current situation in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and Silwan are worrying," he said.

"Those procedures are illegal according to the international law and inflame tensions. The Israeli authorities have to stop those activities," he added.
