Israeli occupation keeps body of prisoner for three years

Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS) said yesterday the Israeli occupation keeps the body of the martyr prisoner Aziz Uweissat, who died in Israeli prison May 20, 2018, after he was brutally beaten and tortured by the jailers, which led to his death by a heart attack.

PPS added that in addition to the martyr Uweissat, the occupation continues to detain the bodies of six martyrs, the oldest of whom is the martyr Anis Dawla from Qalqilya, since 1980.

PPS underlined that the number of prisoner martyrs who died in the occupation prisons since 1967 reached (226), in addition to hundreds of prisoners who died shortly after their release, as a result of diseases and injuries they got during the years of their detention.

It noted that among the martyrs, (75) prisoners died due to deliberate killing, (7) after they were shot directly, and (71) as a result of the medical negligence (slow killing) policy implemented by the occupation prisons administration.

Physical and psychological torture was the most prominent of the systematic policies that caused the death of (73) prisoners over the past decades, which have escalated again since the end of 2019.
