The Palestinian administrative detainee, Yousef Al-Amer, from Jenin is currently on hunger strike demanding his release from prison, bringing the total number of Palestinian detainees in Israel who are on hunger strike to 17.
The Palestinian Prisoners Club clarified in a press release that the prisoner Salem Zaidat from Hebron, who entered his 21st consecutive day of hunger strike, is facing a difficult health situation in the cells of the Negev prison.
It was stated that the prisoner began to move around in a wheelchair.
In addition, the Club pointed out that ten prisoners in the Negev continue to strike and suffer from difficult health conditions
The Prisoner Club confirmed that there are no signs of serious solutions to date regarding the issue of hunger strikers, pointing out that the occupation authorities continue to escalate the policy of administrative detention and issue more of such orders against new detainees.
By this policy, the number of striking prisoners will take an upward trend in the coming days, and there may be a support strike by some prisoners if the occupation authorities do not respond to the demands of the currently striking prisoners.
It is noteworthy that about 40 prisoners since the beginning of this year have been on hunger strike, rejecting the administrative detention policy, knowing that the number of administrative prisoners reached 540 until the end of last June.
