Hamas Movement said that it followed up on the report released by Human Rights Watch (HRW) on the latest Israeli offensive against Gaza.
The movement said in a statement, a copy of which obtained by Safa, "We have followed up on the report released by Human Rights Watch on the latest 11-day Israeli offensive against the Gaza Strip. During this offensive, the Israeli occupation forces killed 255 Palestinians, 39 of whom were women, 67 kids, 1948 wounded, and destroyed 41,684 civilian buildings partially or in total."
Moreover, the movement emphasized the importance of the findings released in the report, including the condemnation that the Israeli occupation forces committed crimes that amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity during the offensive.
As stated in the report, Hamas confirmed the necessity for the international community to hold the Israeli occupation and its leaders accountable and take all necessary measures to halt the continuing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.
Additionally, Hamas confirmed that the Palestinian people have the inalienable right to resist the Israeli occupation with all means possible including armed resistance, as guaranteed by international law.
"In defense of the Palestinian people, the Palestinian resistance only targeted military zones and installations. The resistance continues to take all possible measures to avoid any causality among civilians in any place. The resistance continues to improve the accuracy of targeting the military locations only, without putting the lives of civilians at risk," the movement added.
"On the contrary, the Israeli occupation continues to use Israeli civilians as human shields systematically—it installs military and security sites in the middle of cities and next to schools, hospitals, and civilian airports," it stressed.
Hamas welcomed any international investigation committee to probe into the repeated Israeli offensives against the Gaza Strip. "We have shown and expressed our willingness to cooperate with such a committee to unveil the truth, based on our profound belief in the just Palestinian cause and conviction that the Palestinians are victims of decades-long racist Israeli aggression."
"The movement reiterates that it adheres to and respects international law and international humanitarian law—we are keen on conducting our activities in line with these laws. The occupation and the occupier must not be dealt with in the same way in any case, as the Palestinian people exercise their legitimate right to resist the Israeli occupation," it highlighted.
"We also emphasize the necessity to pressure the Israeli occupation to stop its crimes and hold Israeli leaders accountable at the international criminal court."
Finally, Hamas urged the free peoples of the world to help the Palestinians end this occupation so that the Palestinians can enjoy freedom, independence, and return.
