Hamas: Starvation in Gaza a Tool of Genocide as Catastrophic Famine Deepens

As famine tightens its grip on Gaza, the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has warned that the humanitarian crisis has reached catastrophic levels, placing the lives of hundreds of thousands in imminent danger. With the Israeli blockade now exceeding 21 months and attacks continuing unabated, the Strip is witnessing one of the darkest chapters in its modern history.

In a press release issued Thursday, Hamas accused the Israeli occupation of deliberately using starvation as a method of warfare, calling it “one of the most horrific crimes committed against children and civilians in modern times.” It pointed to the complete denial of basic necessities, including food, water, and medical supplies, as evidence of a systematic policy of extermination.

The movement condemned the international community’s silence, especially that of the UN Security Council, warning that such inaction legitimises lawlessness and encourages further violations of international and humanitarian law.

Hamas called on Arab and Islamic nations, as well as the United Nations, to intervene urgently, demanding an immediate lifting of the siege and the safe passage of humanitarian aid. It stressed that without concrete steps to halt the genocide, end the starvation, and provide relief, Gaza’s suffering will only deepen under the weight of international complicity and neglect.
