Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh received last Sunday Palestinian businessman Munib al-Masri in his office.
During the meeting, al-Masri presented a goodwill initiative to resume the Palestinian national dialogue and reconciliation talks.
The meeting was attended by Hamas deputy chief Saleh al-Arouri and members of Hamas’ Executive Committee Husam Badran and Salah al-Bardawil.
Hamas welcomed all efforts aimed at achieving Palestinian unity, including al-Masri’s recent efforts, pointing to the massive flexibility it has shown in this regard and the Palestinians’ frustration after the Palestinian Authority (PA) backtracked on all signed agreements, particularly the Palestinian general elections.
The Palestinian resistance movement promised that it would study the initiative and officially respond to al-Masri’s endeavors.
Both sides agreed to hold another joint meeting to discuss the initiative with various Palestinian factions and parties.
