Israeli court sentences prisoner to 3 years and a fine of 4,000 shekels

The Israeli military court sentenced the prisoner Ayham Aqel, 22, from the village of Sebastia, northwest of Nablus, in the northern occupied West Bank, to 3 years and a fine of 4,000 shekels.

The Prisoners Media Office stated that the occupation forces arrested Akel on Oct 15, 2020 after raiding his family's home, destroying its contents, assaulting him and a number of his family members and interrogating him before transferring him to investigations at the Petah Tikva detention center.

The Office added that the occupation intelligence charged the prisoner Aqel with several charges, most notably “belonging to a prohibited organization, and trying to recruit people to work against the occupation,” and sentenced him to 3 years, of which he spent more than 11 months.
