A survey, conducted by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research, revealed that 80% of the population in the West Bank and Gaza want to overthrow the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. This reflects the state of anger towards the Palestinian Authority, particularly after the killing of the political activist Nizar Banat after being severely beaten and tortured in Al-Khaleel town.
Khalil Al-Shaqaqi, head of the center, noted that this survey is the worst for President Abbas.
The survey presented that 45% of those participating in the survey believe that Hamas should govern them. On the other hand, only 19% said that Fateh, presided over by Abbas, deserves this role.
It also revealed that 63% believe that the activist Banat was assassinated by orders from Politicians and security leaders in the Palestinian Authority, while 22% do not believe so.
