Detainees Committee: deterioration in the health condition of Palestinian detainee

The Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Committee on Wednesday reported that the detainee, Nasser Abu Hamid, is being held in the Israeli occupation Barzilai Hospital, in a worrying and poor health condition.

The occupation forces last Sunday transferred the detainee, Abu Hamid, to the hospital after a sharp deterioration in his health condition.

After visiting him, the Committee’s lawyer, Karim Ajwa, explained that the prisoner Abu Hamid is still suffering from severe coughing fits that make him vomit, high temperature, and aches throughout his body. He has lost more than ten kilograms of weight, and the occupation doctors are providing him with intravenous antibiotics. .

The lawyer indicated that he is scheduled to undergo medical tests today, including Pulmonary function testing. In addition, the date of the operation will be determined in light of the results of the tests.

The Committee pointed out that despite the difficult health condition of the detainee, Abu Hamid, the occupation authorities deliberately tied one of his hands and feet to the hospital bed.

The detainee Abu Hamid, 49, from Al-Amari camp in Ramallah, has been detained since 2002 and sentenced to 7 life sentences and 50 years in prison. He is among five brothers facing life sentences in detention.

Their house was demolished several times by the occupation forces, and their mother was deprived of visiting them for several years.
