The Council of Waqf and Islamic Holy Affairs and the Jerusalem Waqf Administration condemned the targeting by the occupation authorities of a religious and national figures in Beit Holy, and their decision to deport Sheikj Ekrima Sabri from Al-Aqsa Mosque, considering it void and illegal, to Al-Aqsa Mosque for a week.
In a statement, the Council and the Department of Awqaf affirmed the right of Muslims alone to the Al-Aqsa Mosque with its area of 144 dunums and all its buildings, courtyards, fences and roads above and below the ground.
The statement stated that the Al-Aqsa Mosque was a pure mosque for Muslims alone that did not accept division or partnership.
The occupation police had decided, on Sunday, to release the Chairman of the Supreme Islamic Authority of Jerusalem, Sheikh Akram Sabri, after 6 hours of detention, on condition that he be removed from the Al-Aqsa Mosque for a week.
