Hamas calls for Muslim unity to face off challenges

The Muslim world has to accomplish a true unity to fight off all challenges facing it, said Khalil al-Hayya, head of Hamas’ Arab and Islamic Relations Office.

A senior delegation from Hamas, headed by al-Hayya, attended the 35th Islamic Unity Conference held in the Iranian capital, Tehran. The delegation included Osama Hamdan, Abu Ahmad Jamal, and Khalid al-Qaddoumi, the Hamas representative in Iran.

Al-Hayya thanked the Iranian leadership, government, and people for hosting the summit and supporting the Palestinian people and resistance.

Reaffirming the necessity of unity among the Muslim world, al-Hayya said: “One of the greatest things Islam advocates for is the unity of Ummah.”

Al-Hayya called for the Muslim world to achieve true unity to fight off the challenges facing the Muslim and Arab nations.

The Hamas official pointed out that the Israeli occupation is seeking to Judaize Jerusalem and impose a new fait accompli at the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Al-Hayya warned against disunity in the face of the challenges posed to the Muslim world, including the Israeli occupation.

Addressing the attendants at the summit, al-Hayya said: “Our enemies are trying to create division and fuel enmity between us, as well as targeting our values, civilization, and religion by making false accusations, spreading extremism and ideological terrorism which go against the principles of our religion and doctrine.”

In order to achieve true Islamic unity, al-Hayya called for “reinforcing factors of unity, containing sectarian strife and political conflict which lead to infighting, fulfilling our duties towards our religion, supporting resistance, and paying attention for the issues of the oppressed of our Ummah.”

Al-Hayya stressed that Hamas and the Palestinian people are committed to the option of resistance in the face of the Israeli occupation.

“The people of Palestine are determined to face off the Israeli occupation until ending it,” al-Hayya continued.

Al-Hayya explained that the Muslim world can achieve unity only by unifying its attitude towards Palestine and ending the Zionist project in Palestine and Jerusalem.
