The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) said that the escalation of political arrests by the Authority's security agencies in the West Bank is a real crime against our people in the Bank, serving only the Israeli occupation and its policy.
Hamas spokesman Hazem Kassem, in a statement to SAFA on Sunday, noted that there were a wide range of violations against citizens in the Bank through political detention, as well as the suppression of freedoms and the confiscation of the right of expression.
The continuation of that policy by the Authority ignored all national considerations, particularly in the light of the Israeli offensive against Palestinian land and human beings and the unprecedented escalation of settlements in the Bank.
Kassem called for an inclusive national position that would put an end to the conduct of the Authority and prevent it from continuing to encroach on the freedoms of our people in the Bank.
