Former Israeli Defence Minister Ya’alon Admits to Ethnic Cleansing in Northern Gaza

Former Israeli Defence Minister Moshe Ya’alon has openly admitted that the Israeli army’s operations in northern Gaza constitute acts of ethnic cleansing. In a recent statement, Ya’alon described the forced expulsion of Palestinians from the region as a deliberate and systematic campaign targeting civilians.

In a tweet, Ya’alon acknowledged that Israeli occupation forces had been deployed to northern Gaza to expel residents, highlighting the devastating consequences of these actions. He further stated that using temporary military deployments to justify the displacement of Palestinians and the establishment of settlements amounts to ethnic cleansing.

During an interview with the Israeli channel 'Democratv', Ya’alon accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of leading the country toward "ruin" and took full responsibility for his claims. He explicitly labelled the army’s operations as "war crimes" and criticised attempts to obscure these actions from public scrutiny.

Since early last month, the Israeli army has intensified operations in northern Gaza under what is known as the 'Generals’ Plan'. The campaign aims to forcibly evacuate residents, eliminate Hamas presence, and establish a closed military zone. Humanitarian aid has been blocked, and those who remain are labelled as "terrorists" subject to elimination.

International organisations have condemned the operations as part of a broader strategy of "killing and starvation," creating unbearable conditions for civilians. The campaign has resulted in over 3,000 civilian deaths, primarily women and children, along with the destruction of entire families. More than 100,000 residents have been forcibly displaced, over 10,000 injured, and 3,000 arrested.

The crisis in northern Gaza continues to escalate, with calls for urgent international intervention to halt the atrocities and protect civilians.
