"Over 2 million people are trapped in this hell hole. They can’t escape. There is no way out," said Louise Wateridge, Senior Emergency Officer at UNRWA, as she described the dire conditions faced by Palestinians in Gaza.
Wateridge highlighted the deteriorating situation, noting, "The weather has worsened in recent days. Every basic need is deprived – food, water, healthcare, safety. The agency has been forced to prioritize food over shelter assistance. When will this madness end?"
She emphasized the immense challenges faced by humanitarian workers, sharing that essential supplies destined for Gaza have been held outside the Strip for six months.
"This is what we face," she said. "We are forced to choose between providing food for the people or offering them shelter."
Wateridge's remarks underscore the critical need for immediate action to address the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
