The Gaza Government Media Office (GMO) has reported that 201 journalists have been killed in Gaza since October 7, with the latest casualties occurring when Israeli airstrikes targeted a broadcast vehicle belonging to Al-Quds Al-Youm TV in Nuseirat refugee camp. The strike claimed the lives of five media professionals: Faisal Abu Al-Qumsan, Ayman Al-Jadi, Mohammed Al-Ladah, Fadi Hassouna, and Ibrahim Al-Sheikh Ali, who were conducting their journalistic duties at the time.
The GMO strongly condemned the attack, calling it part of a systematic effort to silence Palestinian journalists. It urged the International Federation of Journalists, the Arab Journalists Union, and global media organizations to denounce these crimes and stand in solidarity with media workers in Gaza.
The office also held Israel and its allies—specifically the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, and France—fully responsible for these targeted killings, emphasizing their complicity in perpetuating violence against Palestinian journalists.
In its statement, the GMO called on the international community and press freedom organizations to take decisive action to stop Israel's attacks, ensure accountability through international courts, and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The office further stressed the urgent need to protect journalists in Palestine, particularly in Gaza, as well as to prevent additional targeted killings and suppressive measures aimed at silencing the truth about the ongoing situation. It demanded serious international pressure to end what it described as a massacre against both journalists and the broader Palestinian population.
