Israeli Actions Deepen Humanitarian Crisis, Endangering Thousands of Displaced Palestinians

The Government Media Office in Gaza has warned of a worsening humanitarian crisis caused by Israeli actions, leaving thousands of displaced Palestinian families at risk of death. The statement highlights the destruction of 110,000 tents amid extreme cold, calling for urgent provision of basic necessities.

“Once again, the Israeli occupation has created a tragic humanitarian crisis, threatening the lives of thousands of displaced civilians. With 81% of their tents now unusable, winter conditions have claimed the lives of five civilians in recent days,” the office stated. It further pointed to the devastating destruction of Gaza’s housing sector, leaving two million displaced Palestinians to endure unliveable conditions in deteriorating cloth tents.

The office reported that out of 135,000 tents, 110,000 are now out of service due to prolonged exposure to weather and time. It emphasised that this humanitarian catastrophe stems directly from Israeli actions, which have destroyed hundreds of thousands of homes and forced civilians into makeshift shelters devoid of basic necessities.

It condemned the inaction of the international community and UN organisations, holding Israel, along with its supporters, including the United States, Britain, Germany, and France, fully responsible for the worsening humanitarian crisis. "The silence of the international community amounts to complicity," the statement declared.

The office called on Arab and Islamic nations, as well as international humanitarian organisations, to intervene urgently. It stressed the need to compel Israel to halt its actions, ensure the entry of humanitarian aid, and meet the basic needs of Gaza’s displaced population, including shelter, food, and medicine. "This tragedy demands immediate action from all responsible parties to uphold their legal and moral obligations toward the Palestinian people," it concluded.
