The Palestinian unions and syndicates have condemned statements made by former U.S. President Donald Trump, in which he called for the displacement of Gaza’s residents and control over the region.
The unions and syndicates described Trump’s remarks as "dangerous," reflecting a "brutal and sadistic instinct to strike an entire people at its core, as if he has forgotten that our people, who have been struggling for 80 years, have marked their land with pure blood."
They continued: "Today, our people are facing a global aggression led by a gambler who sees himself as the ruler of the world, holding humanity’s fate in his hands. This calls for urgent intervention from the international community, its institutions, and bodies to halt this unprecedented assault on our people."
The Palestinian unions and syndicates stressed that the displacement of the Palestinian people is a "grand conspiracy that will not pass" and a serious violation of international law. They rejected the notion that this could be carried out easily, as Trump seems to believe.
The statement warned that Trump’s remarks and his call for the mass displacement of Gaza’s residents would plunge the world into "chaos, a bloody and chaotic turmoil." It urged a firm and united stance against Trump’s policies, condemning his "unjust and reckless" actions. It added: "Everyone must work towards achieving humanitarian justice, holding war criminals in the Israeli army accountable through fair trials, and ensuring the establishment of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, the return of refugees, and support for the Palestine Liberation Organization."
The unions and syndicates also praised the positions of Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the six countries that issued a unified stance rejecting the displacement of Gaza’s residents.
On Tuesday, Trump once again called for Egypt and Jordan to accept Palestinians from Gaza, stating, "The Palestinians have no choice but to leave Gaza," and adding, "I want to see Jordan and Egypt take Palestinians from Gaza." He also announced that the United States would "take control of and own Gaza," doubling down on his proposal for the forced displacement of Palestinians.
For nearly 16 months, Washington has supported genocide and ethnic cleansing in Gaza, carried out by Israeli occupation forces against Palestinian civilians since October 7, 2023. The ongoing assault has resulted in over 159,000 casualties—most of them children and women—and more than 14,000 missing persons.
