"Disco Room": Harrowing Testimonies Reveal Torture of Gaza Prisoners in Israeli Detention Camps

Palestinian detainees from Gaza are enduring inhumane conditions in Israeli occupation camps and prisons, according to testimonies collected by the Palestinian Authority for Prisoners and Released Prisoners and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club. Accounts from 11 detainees held in Sde Teiman, Naftali, Anataut, and Negev Prison expose systematic torture, humiliation, and deprivation inflicted upon them.

Among the most disturbing methods reported is the so-called “disco interrogation,” where detainees are subjected to deafening music for 48 consecutive hours. Shackled and blindfolded, they are left disoriented and physically broken. Others describe being forced into painful positions for extended periods, deprived of basic needs, and forbidden from speaking to one another.

A detainee identified as (Y.F.) described his degrading transfer to Anataut camp, where humiliation is routine, and detainees are kept in complete silence under constant surveillance. Another prisoner, (M.Y.), revealed that he was blindfolded for so long that he lost track of his location, forced to survive on meagre food rations, and denied the right to pray or wash.

In Negev Prison, starvation is used as a weapon. Prisoners are left hungry, their meals deliberately delayed, while diseases such as scabies spread unchecked. These harrowing testimonies offer a glimpse into the grim reality of Gaza’s detainees, who remain largely unaccounted for. The latest statistics suggest that at least 1,886 prisoners from Gaza are being held under the classification of "illegal combatants," including three women and dozens of children—yet the true scale of their suffering remains unknown.
