Amidst the rubble, the determination of residents in northern Gaza to stay on their land is strong. Despite the devastation, they have slowly begun to restore life to the area using basic methods, demonstrating resilience.
In Jabalia camp, resident Monther Yaseen worked to repair part of his home, salvaging building materials from the rubble to rebuild walls using sheets and nylon. Despite the destruction, he prioritized security and stability over the trauma, seeing the return as not just repairing walls but rebuilding his life.
Life has gradually returned to northern Gaza as street vendors return, and residents rebuild their homes. Some have even set up tents near the ruins.
Sami Odeh, another resident, expressed his determination, saying, “Patience is key. No matter how tough things get, we must believe there’s an end to every hardship.”
The Gaza government media office reported that direct material losses from Israeli attacks exceeded $50 billion, with the housing sector suffering $25 billion in damages. 450,000 housing units were affected, including 170,000 completely destroyed.
