Tragedy Strikes Gaza: The Massacre of the Juha Family in Shuja'iyya

Across Gaza City, over 100 members of the Juha family sought refuge in a home in Shuja'iyya after fleeing bombardments in Zeitoun. They believed they had found safety, but their shelter became a grave.

Anas Juha, a 27-year-old survivor, was away checking on his displaced mother when an Israeli airstrike reduced the house to rubble. His wife, Lina (24), and their children, Fayez (3) and Kariman (5), were among the dead, alongside dozens of relatives.

Neighbors rushed to recover bodies from the devastation. Among the victims were 40 children, 35 women, and four pregnant mothers—one due to give birth that day. Anas and others buried around 50 family members in a mass grave, while many remain trapped under the ruins.

"What threat did we pose?" Anas asked, grief-stricken. "We were just a family." The massacre of the Juha family is yet another tragedy in Israel’s ongoing onslaught, which has left thousands dead and displaced entire communities
