UN Adopts Four Resolutions in favor of Palestine

The UN General Assembly (UNGA) on Thursday adopted four pro-Palestine resolutions, which defended the human rights in Palestine.

"Peaceful settlement of the question of Palestine," the resolution that won the most support (145 votes in favor, 7 against and 9 abstentions), called upon all states not to recognize any changes to the pre-1967 borders, including with regard to Jerusalem, other than those agreed by the parties through negotiations.

It also adopted the resolution entitled "Special information programme on the question of Palestine of the Department of Global Communications", by voting (142) states in favor of the resolution, and (8) against (Australia, Canada, Israel, Hungary, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, and United States), with (11) countries abstaining (Cape Verde, Cameroon, Guatemala, Honduras, Madagascar, Mexico, Rwanda, Samoa, South Sudan, Togo, and Uruguay).

The Assembly also adopted the resolution entitled "The Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People", with a vote of (91) states in favor of the resolution, and (17) states against, with (54) abstaining.

The Assembly adopted the resolution entitled "Division for Palestinian Rights of the Secretariat," with 82 votes in favor of the resolution, and 25 against, with 53 abstaining.

The Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine in the United Nations, Minister Riyad Mansour, praised the General Assembly for holding the session, in which it marks the 73rd anniversary of the Assembly's adoption of Resolution 181 (II) of the decision to partition historic Palestine.

Mansour stressed that without taking Israel into account and real consequences, it will continue to ignore the international community and international law, violate the rights of the Palestinian people and destroy prospects for real peace, security and coexistence.

He called on all states not to provide aid or assistance in maintaining this illegal situation and to discriminate in all their related dealings between the territories of Israel's occupying power and the land occupied since 1967, including with regard to Jerusalem, in a manner consistent with Security Council Resolution 2334.
