The Israeli occupation has escalated restrictions on Palestinians in Jerusalem, severely limiting access to Al-Aqsa Mosque during Ramadan and the Jewish holiday of Purim. The Old City has become an open-air prison, with round-the-clock inspections, surveillance cameras, and mass deportations targeting worshippers and activists.
Nearly 200 deportation orders have been issued since Ramadan began, part of a broader effort to clear the mosque for settler incursions. Under Israeli protection, settlers have performed provocative rituals, including dancing and Talmudic prayers, while Palestinian worshippers face harassment, expulsion, and bans on overnight prayers.
These measures highlight the ongoing struggle for Palestinian rights in Jerusalem, as the occupation seeks to erase their presence and connection to holy sites. The international community’s silence, activists say, only deepens the injustice.
