A United Nations report has revealed the Israeli Occupation’s systematic use of sexual and reproductive violence against Palestinians, describing the extent of these violations as beyond human endurance. The Independent International Commission of Inquiry confirmed that Israeli forces have engaged in sexual assault, forced nudity, and gender-based violence as part of a wider strategy to subjugate Palestinian society. These crimes, targeting men, women, and children, have been carried out within a climate of impunity, with little to no accountability at the political or military level.
The report highlights how sexual violence has been weaponised to intimidate Palestinian detainees, humiliate entire communities, and deepen the psychological trauma of occupation. Witnesses described threats of rape, assaults in detention, and the destruction of reproductive healthcare services in Gaza, leaving pregnant women and new mothers without essential medical care. The targeted bombing of hospitals, maternity wards, and fertility clinics raises concerns that such actions could constitute acts of genocide under international law.
Beyond direct violence, Israel’s blockade, displacement policies, and restrictions on humanitarian aid have worsened conditions, particularly for women and children. The collapse of Gaza’s healthcare system has led to rising maternal and infant deaths, while Israel’s continued lack of accountability raises fears that these violations will persist unchecked.
Human rights groups and legal experts are urging swift international action, calling for prosecution of Israeli officials for war crimes and crimes against humanity. The findings reinforce concerns that the Israeli Occupation’s policies go beyond military control to actively dismantling Palestinian social and demographic structures. As Gaza and the West Bank remain under siege, the report warns of the long-term impact of systematic oppression, underscoring the urgent need for accountability.
