Over 40,000 Palestinians Displaced in Northern West Bank: Largest Wave Since 1967

In the largest wave of displacement since 1967, over 40,000 Palestinians have been forcibly displaced from their homes in the northern West Bank by Israeli forces. The ongoing aggression, targeting Tulkarem, its refugee camps, and the Nour Shams camp, has now entered its 48th and 35th consecutive days, respectively.

The Israeli military’s operation, dubbed “The Iron Wall,” has caused extensive destruction in Jenin, Tulkarem, and Nour Shams refugee camps. At least 13 Palestinians, including a child and two women—one of whom was eight months pregnant—have been killed, with dozens more injured or arrested.

Witnesses report that Israeli forces have stormed homes, forcibly evicting families or threatening to demolish their homes while burning them with occupants inside. Many residents fled to escape the destruction of infrastructure, cuts to water and electricity, and blocked humanitarian aid, including medical supplies.

Since the operation began on January 21, 2025, around 1,130 homes and facilities in Jenin, Tulkarem, Nour Shams, and Al-Far'a refugee camps have been partially or fully destroyed. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has condemned the scale of demolitions, calling it a disturbing new pattern with an unprecedented toll on Palestinian refugees.

The displacement and destruction have worsened the humanitarian crisis in the region, prompting calls from the international community for an immediate end to hostilities and a return to dialogue.
