An Israeli drone strike on Sunday morning claimed the life of an elderly man and injured several others in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza. Local sources identified the victim as 62-year-old Fayyad Al-Tawil, who was killed when the strike targeted a group of civilians. The attack follows a series of violent incidents in the area, including a strike the previous day that left two dead and another in Beit Lahia that killed ten.
Since the ceasefire agreement came into effect on January 19, 2025, the death toll in Gaza has climbed to 151, according to local reports. Among the recent victims is Nada Issa, a young woman who died from injuries sustained in an Israeli attack on her home in the Al-Nuseirat refugee camp. Her death follows the killings of her father, Dr. Salah Issa, and her brother in the same assault.
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor reports that Israeli forces have killed an average of six people every two days since the ceasefire began. As of March 1, 2025, at least 145 people have been killed and 605 injured during this period. Despite the truce, Israeli airstrikes and gunfire have continued almost daily, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Since the start of the Israeli offensive on October 7, 2023, the overall death toll in Gaza has reached 48,543, with 111,981 injured. Many victims remain trapped under rubble or in the streets, as rescue teams face significant challenges in reaching them due to ongoing violence. The persistent attacks highlight the fragility of the ceasefire and the immense suffering endured by Gaza’s civilian population, who continue to bear the brunt of the conflict.
