Gaza’s Suffering Deepens as Israel Keeps Key Crossing Shut

For over two weeks, Israel’s continued closure of the Kerem Shalom crossing has pushed Gaza further into despair, severing the lifeline for food, medicine, and essential supplies. Over two million Palestinians, already enduring a 17-year blockade, now face a rapidly worsening humanitarian catastrophe.

Since March 2, no aid or commercial goods have entered Gaza, leaving 80,000 people without food and forcing bakeries to shut down. Hospitals are running out of critical supplies, putting 150,000 patients at risk, while fuel shortages have crippled water wells, deepening the water crisis.

Local authorities warn that the situation is reaching a breaking point. “This is not just a blockade; it’s a death sentence for our people,” said a Gaza health official. “Every day the crossing remains closed, more lives are lost to hunger, disease, and preventable illnesses.”

The international community has called for an immediate reopening of the crossing, but with no end to the blockade in sight, Gaza’s people are left to bear the brunt of a crisis that shows no signs of abating. The world must act before it’s too late.
