Israeli occupation airstrikes have killed at least 970 Palestinians in the past 48 hours, bringing the total number of deaths since Tuesday to over 1,600, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. More than 900 others have been wounded, with the ministry confirming that 70 percent of the casualties are women and children. Entire neighborhoods have been reduced to rubble as rescue teams struggle to reach survivors under continuous bombardment.
Hospitals across Gaza are on the brink of collapse, facing severe shortages of medical supplies, electricity, and fuel due to the ongoing blockade. Ministry spokesperson Khalil Al-Dakran warned that many injured Palestinians are dying due to the lack of treatment, as medical facilities are overwhelmed. With most health services no longer functioning, makeshift clinics and overcrowded shelters are struggling to provide even basic care.
The latest escalation follows the Israeli occupation’s decision to break a fragile ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement, launching a new wave of intense airstrikes across the Gaza Strip. Since the occupation’s military campaign began in October 2023, nearly 50,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed, while over 112,000 others have been wounded. Human rights organizations have condemned the attacks, accusing Israel of committing war crimes and systematically targeting civilians.
Hamas spokesman Abdul Latif al-Qanou confirmed that negotiations with mediators are ongoing to restore the ceasefire and halt the aggression. He called on the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to take urgent action to lift the blockade and allow humanitarian aid into Gaza. International aid agencies warn that Gaza’s 2.3 million residents face starvation and disease if emergency relief does not reach them soon.
Meanwhile, international legal action against Israel is intensifying. The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, charging them with war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. The occupation is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), though Israeli officials have dismissed these legal proceedings as politically motivated. As the humanitarian crisis deepens, calls for an immediate ceasefire and international intervention continue to grow, with rights organizations demanding urgent action to stop the bloodshed.
