The medical crisis in Gaza has reached a devastating threshold, with the Ministry of Health warning that the Strip's healthcare system is teetering on the brink of total collapse. Months of continuous Israeli bombardment have ravaged medical infrastructure, leaving hospitals barely functioning and patients without access to life-saving care.
Before the war, Gaza had 38 operational hospitals. Today, only four remain partially functional—crippled by severe damage, limited power, and an overwhelming influx of casualties. More than 80 primary healthcare centres are now completely out of service, while 162 medical facilities, including emergency centres and pharmaceutical warehouses, have been destroyed.
The blockade continues to strangle Gaza’s access to essential medical supplies. With borders sealed and humanitarian aid restricted, patients suffering from chronic illnesses, trauma injuries, and malnutrition are at increasing risk of death. Doctors and nurses work under constant threat, many operating without anaesthetics, clean water, or basic surgical tools.
Health officials have issued an urgent appeal to the international community: act now or witness the collapse of an entire healthcare system. They are calling for the immediate entry of medical aid, international protection for hospitals, and humanitarian corridors to evacuate the critically ill.
This is not merely a health emergency—it is a deliberate, systematic dismantling of Gaza’s medical lifeline. As doctors perform surgeries by torchlight and patients die waiting for care, the silence of the world grows more unbearable. Without immediate international intervention, the last thread of medical resilience in Gaza may soon be lost.
