Palestinian families in the occupied West Bank are facing an alarming surge in home demolitions and settler violence, according to a new report by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). Since late March, Israeli authorities have demolished more than 100 Palestinian structures, pushing already vulnerable communities into deeper displacement and despair. The latest wave of demolitions displaced five households—33 individuals, including 19 children—who had already been forced to flee settler violence in February.
The targeted communities are often shepherding and Bedouin families, living in areas now caught between expanding illegal settlements and intensified Israeli military activity. Many of the demolished homes were located in the Jordan Valley, where Israeli authorities continue to pressure Palestinians through repeated evictions and demolitions. The official justification remains the lack of construction permits—permits that are nearly impossible for Palestinians to obtain under the current occupation system.
In parallel, extremist settlers have escalated their attacks on Palestinian towns and farmland. Over the past two weeks alone, more than 40 settler assaults have been recorded, half of which targeted Bedouin and herding communities. The attacks range from arson to theft and violent assaults, all under the protection—or indifference—of the Israeli military. These acts are not isolated; they are part of a growing pattern of settler-colonial aggression aimed at displacing Palestinians and taking over their land.
The UNRWA has recently warned that the situation is rapidly deteriorating, with nearly 40,000 Palestinians displaced in the West Bank due to Israeli military raids and settler violence. What is unfolding is not merely a humanitarian crisis—it is the systematic annexation of Palestinian land and the erasure of its people from their ancestral homes.
