In Gaza’s shattered healthcare system, doctors are now forced to decide who lives and who dies. With no fuel, no medicine, and no safe passage for aid, hospitals have been turned into places of despair. At Al-Shifa, once the Strip’s largest and most vital medical facility, the situation has deteriorated beyond recognition. Patients are dying not from the severity of their injuries alone, but from the deliberate denial of care caused by an inhumane blockade.
Dr. Mohammad Abu Salmiya, head of the hospital, has described scenes no medical professional should ever witness—lives lost simply because electricity ran out, or because a child could not receive oxygen. Aid convoys remain stranded, and the last trickle of fuel that kept generators running has vanished.
For nearly two months, the Israeli occupation has blocked the entry of all humanitarian aid, closing crossings and cutting off lifelines to over two million Palestinians. These policies, carried out under the cover of international silence and bolstered by U.S. support, have pushed the health system to collapse and claimed tens of thousands of lives.
What is unfolding is not just a humanitarian crisis—it is a deliberate act of erasure. Gaza’s doctors, nurses, and civilians continue to resist not only death, but global indifference.
