The Government Media Office in Gaza has revealed staggering figures on the human toll of Israel’s war on the Strip since October 7, 2023. Over 12,000 massacres have reportedly killed more than 62,000 Palestinians, including at least 10,000 missing. Among the dead, 2,220 families have been entirely wiped from the civil registry, with no survivors, while 5,120 families were left with only one surviving member.
Children and women continue to bear the brunt of the violence. Over 16,000 children were confirmed dead in hospitals, while thousands more remain buried under rubble or unreachable. At least 311 newborns and 908 infants under one year old have been killed. Additionally, 57 people, including more than 50 children, have died from hunger, while 17 displaced individuals—most of them children—have succumbed to cold.
Vital sectors have collapsed. The war has killed 1,411 medical workers, 113 civil defence staff, 214 journalists, and hundreds of police and aid workers. Hospitals, shelters, and displacement centres have been repeatedly targeted. Seven mass graves were discovered in medical facilities, from which 529 bodies were exhumed. Gaza’s health services are overwhelmed, with 17,000 injured needing long-term rehabilitation and 4,700 amputations, 18% of them children.
The humanitarian crisis continues to deepen. At least 65,000 children face death from starvation. Around 22,000 patients urgently need treatment abroad, but Israel continues to block medical evacuations. Despite designating 10% of Gaza as “humanitarian zones,” Israeli forces bombed areas like Al-Mawasi 38 times. As 41,000 children are left orphaned and 14,500 women widowed, Gaza is enduring not only a war of weapons—but a systematic erasure of life.
