Israeli occupation forces opened fire on a European diplomatic delegation during their visit to the Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday evening.
According to local and media sources, Israeli soldiers directly targeted the delegation, which included 25 ambassadors and diplomats from various European, Arab, and international missions, as they toured parts of the camp affected by repeated Israeli raids.
Earlier in the day, the delegation met with officials at the Jenin governorate headquarters, where they were briefed on the worsening humanitarian and economic situation. Discussions focused on the impact of continuous Israeli aggression, the destruction of vital infrastructure, severe commercial losses, and the forced displacement of approximately 22,000 residents from their homes in the city and camp.
The delegation included representatives from Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, the European Union, the United Kingdom, France, Portugal, Spain, Austria, Turkey, China, India, Russia, Brazil, Mexico, Japan, Canada, Chile, and several other countries.
The incident comes amid Israel’s ongoing military campaign against Jenin, which has now entered its 121st consecutive day. The refugee camp has faced near-daily incursions, with large-scale bulldozing operations, property destruction, and military blockades.
According to figures released by the Jenin Municipality, Israeli forces have completely demolished around 600 homes in the camp, while hundreds of others have sustained heavy damage and are no longer habitable. Residents and officials warn that the aim is to dismantle the social and physical fabric of the camp through forced displacement and collective punishment.
