The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has issued a dire warning over the escalating humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, where starvation and collapsing healthcare threaten thousands of lives.
With food supplies nearly exhausted, around 250,000 Palestinians are now enduring catastrophic hunger—the most severe level of food insecurity. Nearly a million more are on the brink of famine, struggling to find even the most basic sustenance. Malnutrition is rampant, with at least 70,000 children acutely malnourished and countless mothers, infants, and pregnant women suffering from severe deficiencies.
UNRWA stressed that Gaza’s shattered health system can no longer cope, leaving families without medical care as diseases spread. Aid deliveries remain critically insufficient, blocked by ongoing restrictions, leaving entire communities without hope of relief.
The agency warns of irreversible long-term consequences unless urgent action is taken to halt the crisis and allow unfettered humanitarian access. For Palestinians in Gaza, survival itself has become a daily struggle.
