Chile Recalls Military Attachés from Israel in Protest Against Gaza Assault

The Chilean government has withdrawn its military, defence, and air attachés from its Tel Aviv embassy in a strong rebuke of Israel’s ongoing offensive in Gaza, which has caused catastrophic humanitarian suffering.

The move, coordinated between Chile’s foreign and defence ministries, comes amid outrage over Israel’s indiscriminate bombardment and blockade of Gaza, where thousands of Palestinians have been killed and aid access severely restricted. Santiago condemned the violations of international law and demanded an immediate ceasefire, as well as unimpeded humanitarian access to the besieged enclave.

Meanwhile, the UN Security Council is set to hold urgent discussions on the crisis, with acting Middle East envoy Sigrid Kaag expected to brief members on the devastating toll of Israel’s military campaign. The move by Chile reflects growing global frustration over the unchecked violence faced by Palestinians under occupation.
