Gaza’s Health System on the Brink: MSF Warns of Total Shutdown Within Days

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has warned that Gaza’s health system is nearing complete collapse amid continued blockade and bombardment. For more than 100 days, no medical supplies or humanitarian aid have been allowed to enter the territory. Hospitals are running out of fuel, medicine, and equipment, forcing medical staff to work in unbearable conditions.

An MSF official stated that if no aid is allowed in within the next two weeks, they will be forced to halt all operations. Medical teams are already overwhelmed by the number of casualties and have been forced to carry out procedures without anaesthesia or basic tools. Patients with life-threatening injuries and chronic illnesses are being turned away because care is simply no longer possible.

Gaza’s health crisis is deepening by the day. Around 110 cases of child malnutrition are being recorded daily, a grim sign of the wider humanitarian catastrophe. These figures point to long-term consequences for an entire generation already traumatised by war and displacement.

One of the most urgent concerns remains the severe shortage of both medical personnel and essential supplies. Even emergency surgeries and basic treatments are becoming impossible to carry out. Entire wards have shut down, while doctors operate in hallways and tents, trying to save lives with almost nothing.

MSF is calling on the international community to immediately pressure Israeli authorities to allow the entry of medical aid. They stress the legal and moral obligation to protect health workers and patients, and to prevent the complete collapse of Gaza’s healthcare system. Without immediate action, the consequences will be catastrophic and irreversible.
