Boston Consulting Group Executives Resign Amid Scandal Over Gaza ‘Aid’ Involvement

Two senior executives at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) have resigned following revelations of the firm’s deep involvement in a controversial aid project in Gaza that many Palestinians view as complicit in their suffering and displacement.

The Wall Street Journal confirmed the resignations after internal backlash within BCG over its support for the so-called Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, a project accused of coordinating with the Israeli army in aid operations that have resulted in the deaths of hundreds of starving Palestinians gathered at distribution points. The Financial Times also reported that BCG’s Chief Risk Officer and Head of Social Impact were both forced to step down after the company’s internal investigation.

Last May, under a joint Israeli-American initiative, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation was tasked with managing aid delivery inside the besieged enclave. Since then, attacks on aid seekers have increased dramatically. Over 770 Palestinians have been killed and more than 5,000 wounded while attempting to access food and basic supplies.

Further scrutiny followed revelations that BCG signed a multi-million dollar contract to develop and manage the Foundation’s operations, which included advising on a “resettlement” strategy to displace Palestinians from Gaza. Reports by Anadolu Agency and Israeli media indicate BCG participated in secret meetings with Israeli officials to explore the financial and logistical costs of forcibly relocating Palestinians, drafting a plan to confine civilians to four designated aid zones, a plan that was later taken over by the “Global Delivery Company.”

Meanwhile, Israeli leaders, including Minister Naftali Bennett, have proposed the creation of a so-called “humanitarian city” on the ruins of Rafah, in what Palestinians and human rights groups have denounced as a thinly veiled attempt at mass displacement under the guise of civilian protection.

What BCG called a humanitarian mission, many Palestinians experience as yet another chapter in a long history of dispossession and deception, where even the promise of food becomes part of a broader apparatus of control.
