Israeli Raids Devastate Al-Mughayir: Homes Destroyed and Olive Groves Threatened

Israeli forces have continued a sustained assault on the village of Al-Mughayir for a third consecutive day, raiding homes, damaging property, and issuing orders to uproot hundreds of olive trees. Residents described a nightmarish dawn as troops stormed more than 30 homes, threatening families, smashing vehicles, and leaving widespread destruction in their wake.

Bulldozers accompanying the forces are carving out a new settlement road from the Rafid area to Qalason, destroying thousands of dunums of olive groves in the process. Since Thursday, large areas of Al-Mughayir’s eastern plain, much of it planted with centuries-old trees, have been bulldozed, further undermining the village’s livelihoods. The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that Israeli forces also detained one of its teams and an ambulance, blocking aid to a woman in labour.

The authorities have issued military orders to uproot olive trees on 297 dunums of village land, citing security concerns along the Alon settlement road. Observers say the move is part of a wider strategy to seize lands east and west of the road for settlement expansion. Meanwhile, residents remain confined, shops are closed, and movement within the village is heavily restricted, forcing hundreds to seek shelter in neighbouring areas.
