Thirteen Palestinians have been released from Israeli detention after enduring months of harsh and degrading conditions. Transported via the Kissufim crossing to a hospital in Deir el-Balah, doctors reported severe malnutrition, untreated injuries, and signs of physical abuse among the released detainees. Many described prolonged periods of solitary confinement, minimal food, and repeated interrogations under duress.
Rights groups say these releases represent only a fraction of thousands still held in Israeli detention centres, where mistreatment, incommunicado detention, and forced disappearances are widespread. Medical staff noted that urgent care was required for malnutrition, infections, and untreated wounds, highlighting the lasting health consequences of prolonged neglect.
Advocates have called on the international community to demand the immediate release of all detainees held without due process and to guarantee medical and humanitarian access for those still imprisoned. The situation underscores a systematic pattern of abuse that continues to affect thousands in Gaza.
