Despite U.S. President Donald Trump’s call for the Israeli occupation to halt its bombing campaign in Gaza, Israeli airstrikes continued overnight, killing at least 63 Palestinians, including several children, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.
The strikes came after the Palestinian leadership conditionally accepted parts of Trump’s 20-point proposal, which reportedly includes an Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, the release of captives, and increased access for humanitarian aid. However, full approval was withheld over key issues such as disarmament and the need for a national consensus on Gaza’s future governance.
Meanwhile, Gaza’s civilians continue to endure unimaginable suffering under relentless bombardment and repeated displacement. With every new airstrike, homes are reduced to rubble, and families are forced to sleep under the open sky, in overcrowded schools or fragile tents that offer little protection from the elements. Nowhere in Gaza is safe; the bombing follows people into their homes, hospitals, and shelters. Shortages of food, clean water, and medicine worsen daily. Amid the loss and despair, Palestinians cling to faith and hope, believing that even the longest night must one day give way to the light of freedom.
Despite diplomatic efforts, many Palestinians remain deeply sceptical. “Unfortunately, there is no translation for this on the ground,” said Ahmed Assad, a displaced resident. “We see no change to our reality. What are we to do, stay in the streets or leave? There is no place left for us.”
Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza has already claimed more than 67,000 Palestinian lives and pushed the enclave to the brink of total humanitarian collapse. As talks continue in Cairo, the international community watches on, hoping for an end to the devastation, though for many in Gaza, peace still feels heartbreakingly distant.
