Another Night of Fear as Gaza’s Fragile Ceasefire Crumbles Under Fresh Bombardments

Gaza’s brief pause in fighting has once again been overshadowed by a new wave of strikes and shelling, with residents waking to the sound of explosions across the enclave. In the early hours of Tuesday morning, multiple neighbourhoods, from Gaza City to Khan Younis, were hit by fresh bombardments, exposing how tenuous the declared ceasefire has become. Families who had clung to hopes of calm instead found themselves bracing for renewed violence as gunfire, airstrikes, and the demolition of homes continued without interruption.

In Gaza City, witnesses described a powerful detonation at dawn after an explosive-laden military vehicle was blown up east of the city. Attack helicopters opened fire moments later toward the Al-Tuffah district, sending residents scrambling for shelter in streets already scarred by previous attacks. Further south, warplanes struck eastern Khan Younis before artillery units returned to bombard the same areas, adding to the injuries already reported from earlier strikes. Central districts, including Al-Bureij camp, were also targeted by artillery, while smoke rounds and naval fire contributed to a night of widespread fear.

Throughout the morning, gunfire echoed along the eastern perimeter of Khan Younis as military vehicles advanced toward residential zones. Several explosions shook the Shejaiya area, where new airstrikes and heavy fire intensified concerns that the truce is effectively collapsing. For many residents, the ceasefire now feels more symbolic than real, an agreement repeatedly overshadowed by actions that leave civilians exposed, homes destroyed, and communities unsure whether any calm can truly hold amid the continuing genocidal war.
