Gaza Rescue Teams Struggle as Rubble Remains Untouched for Months

Rescue workers in Gaza say recovery efforts remain severely limited, with only a single excavator available to search through vast areas destroyed during the ongoing genocidal war. Local emergency crews report that the lack of heavy machinery has left thousands of families waiting for news of relatives who disappeared beneath collapsed homes and public buildings.

According to rescue officials, the sole excavator currently operating is stationed in the central region and will later be moved to the north once its work there is complete, a rotation they describe as painfully slow given the scale of destruction. They warn that a single machine cannot meet the needs of neighbourhoods where entire blocks have been levelled, urging for more equipment to be permitted into Gaza so recovery operations can proceed more safely and efficiently.

Families continue to contact emergency teams daily, pleading for help in locating missing loved ones. Workers on the ground say the emotional toll on residents is immense, as many have spent months without the ability to bury relatives or even confirm their fate. Estimates suggest that around 10,000 people may still be trapped beneath the rubble, though rescue teams stress that exact figures are impossible to determine due to the dangerous and inaccessible conditions they continue to face.
