Gaza Endures New Waves of Fire as Ceasefire Breaks Down

Gaza was once again rocked on Wednesday by strikes from the air, land, and sea, deepening the sense that the ceasefire has become little more than a formality amid an ongoing genocidal war. Along the southern coast, shells hit the shoreline near Rafah at first light, leaving civilians wounded and reinforcing the vulnerability of communities already living under constant threat. For residents, even dawn offers no respite, as the boundary between frontline and civilian life continues to vanish.

Further east, towns around Khan Younis experienced repeated explosions as aircraft circled overhead and fire was directed towards surrounding areas. Drones flew at low altitude, their presence a reminder of permanent surveillance, while blasts were also reported in central districts near Deir al-Balah and the outskirts of Al-Bureij. The pattern, repeated across multiple locations, suggested a deliberate widening of pressure rather than isolated incidents, extending the reach of the genocidal war across the length of the enclave.

In Gaza City, heavy fire targeted eastern neighbourhoods, adding to a long list of incidents recorded since the ceasefire was announced in October 2025. Hundreds of Palestinians have been killed during what was meant to be a period of de-escalation, with violations now numbering in the thousands. Each new strike further erodes any remaining confidence that agreements offer real protection to civilians.

Beyond the immediate violence, daily survival in Gaza is becoming increasingly precarious. Severe limits on the entry of aid, shelter materials, and essential equipment have intensified shortages of water and medical supplies. As humanitarian commitments remain unfulfilled, the population faces not only the dangers of bombardment but also the slow collapse of basic living conditions under the weight of a prolonged genocidal war.
